Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez made the headlines recently after she and her production company closed a deal with CBS. It has been revealed that I Can and I Will Productions signed a multi-year overall contract with the network.
According to The Wrap, the said production company revealed the announcement last Monday. In connection to the deal, the 32-year-old actress is eyeing the German series format Dr. Illegal. This revolves around the lives of refugee seekers with stories that will be taken with a more humorous point of view.
The earlier mentioned source added that Emily Gipson will serve as the development executive in the company. Rodriguez’s vision for the production is to prioritize a more diverse culture on screen. As testament to this, I Can and I Will Productions already worked on Young Women’s Honors which screened on The CW network last December.
I Can and I Will also highlights the career-driven side of Rodriguez making her a true Hollywood power player, Bustle reports. According to the source, the deal also allows her to choose projects – be it cable, network or via streaming platforms.
