Grey’s Anatomy season 13 is about to lose another of its doctors. Apparently, Dr. Stephanie Edwards will reportedly bid goodbye to the series.
ABC has yet to confirm this report from TV Line. However, the recent casting of actress Jerrika Hinton in an upcoming HBO series could possibly back up the assumption.
The HBO show of Alan Ball is set to premiere within 2017. Interestingly, season 14 of Grey’s Anatomy could return later in the year as well. Thus, the chances of Hinton maintaining duties as a regular in two prominent series might be slim.
Fate of Dr. Stephanie Edwards in Grey’s Anatomy season 13
The synopsis for Grey’s Anatomy season 13 episode 12 titled None of Your Business hints at Stephanie’s involvement in the personal drama of Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone). Moviefone imagines the title could be a dismissive line between two characters in the story.
The synopsis reads, “Maggie gets a surprise visit from her mother at the hospital. Bailey has to make a difficult decision when one of the attendings refuses to work with Eliza, and Stephanie gets caught up in Owen and Amelia’s personal drama.”
Other Stars Who said Goodbye to Grey’s Anatomy
Previously, fans said goodbye to Patrick Dempsey after his character’s death in season 11. Dr. Callie Torres left the Grey Sloan Memorial with the exit of actress Sara Ramirez in season 12.
Hence, Jerrika Hinton would be the next regular cast member to leave the show. This is not the first time reports hinted at her exit from Grey’s Anatomy.
Hinton previously landed a role in a Shondaland comedy pilot. However, ABC passed on Toast. Hence, she remained with the medical drama series.
To date, it is uncertain if her exit would leave room for her character Dr. Stephanie Edwards to make a comeback as a guest star when ABC finally green light the Grey’s Anatomy season 13 renewal. Then again, Daily Mail considers it a possibility owing to her earlier supposed departure. Apparently, her earlier casting on Toast would have meant a cutback of her character’s appearance.
Hinton will co-star with Sosie Bacon, Holly Hunter, Raymond Lee, and Daniel Zovatto in the new HBO series. The plot for the show is worlds apart from her current role as Dr. Stephanie Edwards.
This time around, Hinton would be part of a family raising both biological and adopted children. Interestingly, one of the children starts to see things no one else can see.
