Grammys 2017 winner predictions are starting to fly in, barely five days before the biggest awards night in the music industry.
In this year’s Grammys, it will be a face-off between Adele and Beyonce. Both are nominated in four of the biggest categories – Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance.
Adele and Beyonce are front runners in all categories they have received nods. Both also have strong chances to win every category. Here are some of the Grammys 2017 winner predictions.
Album of the Year
E! News noted Adele might take home both Album of the Year and Song of the Year awards. For the Album of the Year, the publication cited the blockbuster success of Adele’s 25, which sold a total of more than 8.03 million copies. In comparison, Beyoncé’s Lemonade sold 1.05 million copies.
However, E! News also took note that Lemonade streamed exclusively on Tidal on its first day of release. Hence, Spotify and Apple Music subscribers were not able to hear Bey’s songs instantly. The album finally made its way onto iTunes and Amazon a few days later.
Song of the Year
E! News will totally award this category to Adele’s Hello. Although it is going to be a tough category for the English singer, the publication sees Hello’s 1.9 billion views on Vevo will going to be the key to its victory. For Entertainment Weekly, since this category honors songwriting, Adele’s collaboration with Greg Kurstin for Hello is impeccable.
Record of the Year
For this one, E! News gives it to Bey’s Formation. The site wrote “the recording work behind “Formation” gives it a unique twist that the Recording Academy might admire just a touch more.”
For EW, this is the category that honors the overall quality of performance and production. Hence, the publication said this one should definitely go to Beyonce. Other than Adele, Queen Bey’s competition in this category are Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself, Lukas Graham’s 7 Years, Rihanna’s Work, and Twenty One Pilots’ Stressed Out.
Best Music Video
For this one, it seems like everyone is expecting Beyonce’s Formation to take home the award.
More Grammys 2017 Winner Predictions
The Best New Artist award might be taken home by Chance the Rapper, who garnered six other nominations. The artist made history despite never having sold a single copy of his album Coloring Book. The Billboard 200’s new rating system made it possible.
Coloring Books recorded 57.3 million streams on Apple Music which translated into 38,000 copies sold. This makes Chance the Rapper’s work the first streaming-only album in Billboard’s charts history.
Among Chance the Rapper’s rival for the Best New Artist award are Kelsea Ballerini, The Chainsmokers, Anderson Paak, and Maren Morris.
The 59th Annual Grammy Awards will air live on Sunday (Feb. 12) on CBS.
