The Good Wife spinoff creators Robert and Michelle King were so sure that former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will win the election. They are so convinced that they tailored the script of spinoff series The Good Fight around her victory.
According to TV Line, Donald Trump’s victory was announced more than a week as they set into production. This, of course, has led The Good Wife spinoff creators to change the script until the last minute. “Like most pollsters, we thought Hillary would win the Presidency, so we wrote scenes about Diane retiring from the law because she ‘broke every glass ceiling,’” Kings said.
The Good Wife Creators, Kings Rewrote Script
Robert and Michelle King reportedly had to rewrite the script on the eight day of shooting. Entertainment Weekly reported that the premiere will have Christine Baranski’s Diane watching Trump’s inauguration for the opening episode of The Good Fight.
The Kings believed that the spinoff might be the satire of liberal perspective. Therefore, for them, it would be quite humorous to manipulate Diane’s stunned reaction towards the inauguration.
The Good Fight Details
In addition, The Good Fight took place a year after the happenings from The Good Wife finale last May. The story features Diane Lockhart starting over. She will be moving in one of Chicago’s preeminent law firms. It is also the place where Lucca, played by Cush Cumbo, works.
Meanwhile, this all happened after Lockhart’s involvement in a huge financial scam wiped out all her savings. It also destroyed the respected image of her goddaughter Maia, played by Game of Thrones’ Rose Leslie.
In our previous report, it has already been revealed that Carrie Preston is set to appear again as Elsbeth. Sadly, for the fans of the original series, the 49-year-old actress is only set to appear as guest. Preston considered Elsbeth Tascioni as the best role she ever played. For her, she would love reprising the role over and over again.
Furthermore, the succeeding episodes of The Good Fight will be available on CBS All Access. This The Good Wife spinoff will be aired on Sundays with launch date on Feb. 19, 2017.
