New set photos may have revealed some Game of Thrones season 7 spoilers. This time, a battle of dragons seems inevitable.
Recent reports suggest that production for the HBO series’ upcoming season returned to their Belfast-based studio. Nevertheless, some fans still managed to take snaps of the ongoing filming.
An important detail gathered from these fan-taken photos reveal a potential dragon battle. Watchers on the Wall relays Kevin Patterson’s sighting of what’s going on at Titanic Studios. The source cites Patterson as a fan of the show.
Patterson took to Twitter to report on his sightings. The first day he passed by the studio, he tweeted that he saw “horses, smoke, and Dothraki weapons.” His second day was more interesting as he saw a weird shape of green block with climbing holds.
As per Watchers on the Wall, it could stand for a torso of a dragon that Emilia Clarke can ride. Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on the show, shared a lot of scenes with dragons before. With this recent clue, it seems the Khaleesi’s dragons will play more vital roles come season 7.
Who Might be Involved in the Battle
Clarke was not seen on set and there are no details yet on whether the prop is really for a battle scene. Nevertheless, fans theories point to this. Specifically, the upcoming season could feature a stand off between Dany and the Lannisters.
As to why this is the case, Screen Rant explains, “…fans (and Watchers On The Wall) have speculated that this scene could be a Targaryen vs. Lannister battle, with Daenerys facing off against Jamie (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). Any such battle would no doubt involve Daenerys dragon riding – which could relate to the large, oddly shaped prop seen in Belfast.”
It is best to take this information with a grain of salt though since this remains a speculation for now. After all, the involvement of dragons could simply mean a regular scene with Clarke since her character is usually with one of them.
Game of Thrones Season 7 Spoilers
Despite the usual stream of Game of Thrones season 7 spoilers, it is still hard to tell which ones are accurate from those that are not. Still, a battle between Dany and the Lannisters makes sense.
Dany’s purpose in returning to Westeros stems from her desire to claim the Iron Throne. Consequently, it was Jamie who killed Dany’s older brother leading to the fall of the Targaryens’ power. Hence, Jamie is a logical first target once the Khaleesi steps foot in King’s Landing.
Do you think a battle between the Targaryens and Lannisters will happen in season 7? Fans will find out once Game of Thrones returns in June.
