Former Miss Universe Australia Tegan Martin is reportedly being eyed to star in forthcoming The Bachelorette Australia 2017.

The beauty queen is reportedly in talks to be the next leading lady of the dating competition. This remains a rumor since Martin hasn’t confirmed anything yet and Network Ten has said they haven’t chosen a lead star for this year as of the moment.

Martin is currently dating rugby union player Sam Croke. The Daily Telegraph quoted Martin’s representative Benji Hart as saying that the former Miss U Australia is “very much in love” with the athlete, hence she will not be appearing on The Bachelorette 2017.

However, the publication also cited sources saying Martin is excited to be the next leading lady of the reality show. The 24-year-old beauty represented Australia at Miss Universe in 2014.

Martin recently joined Australia’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. During her stint in the show, Martin confessed to her campmates that she is not sure if Croke is her “the one”.  She was eliminated recently from the show.

Meanwhile, Daily Telegraph also shared Network Ten’s statement about the casting for the next season of The Bachelorette. It stated:

“Australia’s next Bachelorette has not yet been chosen, and casting is currently underway. We look forward to announcing her identity to the public later this year.”

The beauty queen will follow the footsteps of past The Bachelorette Australia stars’ Sam Frost and Georgia Love should Network Ten chose Martin as the next star of the reality show.

Former The Bachelor Australia contestant Keira Maguire also starred in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here along with Martin. Maguire earlier expressed interest in coming back in the Bachelor nation, but this time around as the leading lady.

However, in a recent interview with Keira, she expressed doubts if the show’s producers will ever ask her. Keira was tagged as “villain” in the last season of The Bachelor Australia. She told News Corp:

“I probably would do it if they ask me but I don’t think that they will because I am too much of a risk. Every Bachelorette in the past has been so in line and I don’t think that is me. I don’t think that they would even ask me because I am too unpredictable. They want someone they can control and I am not that person.”

Meanwhile, The Bachelorette Australia opened its audition, for the time, for both sexes. Apparently, this is the first time that any iteration of the Bachelor franchise worldwide opened an audition for both male and female applicants to compete for the leading lady’s heart.

Application for The Bachelorette Australia 2017 is available here. The filming of the upcoming season will start in late May.
