Showtime subscribers got exclusive first access on the first episode of Homeland season 6 ahead of its premiere on Jan. 15.
Many fans thought that they can only witness the first episode of the political thriller drama television series in the middle of this month. However, the network decided to drop it online 17 days prior to its scheduled premiere.
It is worth noting that the finale of the show’s fifth season aired more than a year ago already. Since the Dec. 20, 2015 season 5 final airing, fans have already been waiting for the upcoming season’s updates.
Amid the early release of the Homeland season 6 premiere, Hollywood Reporter noted that this is no longer new. Nevertheless, the source pointed out that it still appears “uncharacteristic” considering the fact that the program enjoys a high stature. Accordingly, the show stands as Showtime’s top-rated series.
Show Now Available in Several Showtime Formats
TV Guide reported that the new season of the TV series is available in different formats. Subscribers of the streaming service of Showtime, Showtime on Demand, Showtime Anytime and Hulu can already watch the sixth season’s maiden episode. It officially started airing on Friday.
What to Expect
The latest Homeland season 6 spoilers suggested that it will be a season tackling “Islamaphobia,” as well as transition concerns from the presidential election until the inauguration.
The inauguration of Elizabeth Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) as the new President, including domestic and international threats are also at the center of the new season.
What the Trailer Says
In the promo teaser released in the middle of December, it was learned that Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) has turned into a “defender” of Muslim Americans.
Meanwhile, questions surrounding her relationship with Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend), will also be answered.
Would the transition bring about chaos in Homeland season 6? How far would this possibly go?
The Showtime series draws inspiration from the Israeli show Prisoners of Wars. Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa developed the adaptation for the American audience.
Catch the television premiere of Homeland season 6 on Jan. 15 at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
