Eva Longoria is coming back to TV in an upcoming comedy pilot on Fox.
The actress has sealed a deal to top bill Type A, a single-camera workplace comedy pilot from the Life in Pieces duo Jason Winer and Lesley Wake-Webster.
Winer will helm the pilot. Wake-Webster, on the other hand, penned the series. According to the The Hollywood Reporter, the series is loosely based on Aaron James’ novel, Assholes: A Theory.
Type-A is an office comedy about a group of consultants hand-picked to do the dirty tasks in workplaces. Their jobs are the kind that most employees are not eager to do. These include terminating workers, delivering downsizing news, and more.
Longoria, who is celebrating her 42nd birthday Wednesday, will portray Axler. She is an ambitious and brutally honest consultant who believes that she is a nice person inside. Actors Ken Marino, Kyle Bornheimer, Steve Harris, and Andy Richter joins the cast as well.
Marino will play Garland who happens to be Axler’s ex-boyfriend. He is charming but a total shark lawyer. Bornheimer is Ben, an Army vet with one leg.
Harris will portray Carson, the security chief with an intimidating physical presence but has a soft spot for dogs. Lastly, Richter is the master manipulator, Luderman, who also makes Machiavelli look like a sweetheart.
Eva Longoria and Fox Relationship
The actress and Fox along with 20th TV have a long standing working relation. The companies have been courting Longoria to star in several projects for some time now, Deadline noted.
The actress will appear in a guest role on Fox/20th TV drama series Empire. Longoria will be playing Charlotte Frost, the formidable director of the Nevada Gaming Commission.
Frost has the power to make or break Lucious’ (Terrence Howard) dreams of expanding his empire to Las Vegas. Underneath her alluring facade, the darkness and corruption lie. The episode is scheduled to air this spring.
Moreover, Longoria has a recurring role on Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine. She recently directed an episode of Jane the Virgin. The actress is also set to direct an episode of the Emmy-winning show Black-ish.
Eva Longoria is best known as Gabrielle Solis in ABC’s Desperate Housewives. She also served as executive producer for Devious Maids. Longoria directed the season 2 premiere of the show and appeared in a guest role in season 4.
