A major disaster awaits residents of Walford as the latest EastEnders spoilers point to big trouble for the show’s characters. What could the disaster be?
According to a report from Digital Spy, specific details about what the disaster could be are under wraps for now. Nevertheless, the source reports confirmation from the show’s bosses about the upcoming storyline being “huge.” Major characters are also in for trouble.
The EastEnders disaster episode will air Monday next week, January 23 at 8 pm on BBC. Three episodes will also serve as follow up to the big disaster storyline, Digital Spy reports.
EastEnders spoilers stem from wrong birthdays
Meanwhile in other related news, fans of the soap took to social media how the show got the characters’ birthdays wrong. Both Mick Carter and Phil Mitchell appeared to celebrate their birthdays earlier than usual.
The Sun quotes one Twitter user who said Phil’s birthday falls on January 20. Other people expressed confusion and asked whether Phil had two birthdays.
Nevertheless, it appears the airing of these episodes on an earlier date than intended have something to do with the disaster coming to Walford. The scale of the upcoming event pushed the wrapping of other stories early.
Digital Spy quotes a spokesperson of the show. “As a continuing drama, it is not uncommon for events to be moved in order to tie in with other storylines.”
The spokesperson elaborates on the explanation. “Next week sees disaster strike in Walford, and these episodes all take place over one day, so in order for events to be played out in this way, other moments need to be moved slightly for story purposes.”
True enough, despite what audiences think, events in soaps and TV shows doesn’t necessarily coincide with the day they air. Hence, it’s still logical for the characters’ birthdays not to fall on the exact day.
Other factors in consideration include the days of the week the soap airs. The EastEnders soap airs every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Currently, the EastEnders cast include Samantha Womack, Steve McFadden, Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright, among others. EastEnders episodes air on BBC One.
