Chance for another shot of Penny Dreadful has been what the fans are trying to say in a long time. It may be confirmed as cancelled on TV, but many may want to know this new update about the Showtime series.
Penny Dreadful: The Awaking
According to Nerdist, Season 4 may not have reached the daylight but another shot was given to the series. Titan Comics is set to continue the story in a new comic book set. It will be penned by the series’ co-executive producer, Chris Kings.
In addition, interior art will be helmed by Sons of Anarchy’s Jesús Hervás. As per the earlier mentioned outlet, the comic book picks up six months after the series finale.
Meanwhile, The Awaking’s continuation will feature Ethan Chandler (Josh Harnett) being in pain due to the heartbreaking events that happened in the finale. Obviously, he will not be able to move on easily. In line with this, he will try to find meaning in life without his love, Vanessa Ives (Eva Green).
On the other hand, Chandler will reportedly hear ancient words from centuries. Upon this, he will be called to fight once again against creatures that crawl at night.
Sequel’s Comicbook Details and Covers
Dread Central reported that Titan Comics prepared four issues for the comics. Another plus is the six covers that will grace the first issue’s debut.
The latter source also reported some additional information from the press release. Jason Wordie is set to do the comics’ colors. Here are the artists to helm the covers:
- Stephen Mooney (Half Past Danger)
- Rob Davis (The Motherless Oven)
- Shane Pierce (Judge Dredd, Vikings)
- Louie De Martinis (PD prequel mini-series)
Two awesome photos will also be added in the variant edition.
Furthermore, the Showtime series ended last year in Season 3. John Logan was the man behind this phenomenal Victorian series. He is a three-time Oscar nominee which proves his true talent in the field.
Despite his announcement about the final curtain call of the series, the avid followers of the show never lose hope. Therefore, this comic series will hopefully fill the void that they have been experiencing. Penny Dreadful: The Awaking will be launched in digital platforms and comic stores on April 5, 2017.
