Actor David Boreanaz is not keen in joining a possible reunion of cast members after Bones season 12 conclude this year.
During the Television Critics Association’s press tour recently, Bones executive producer Hart Hanson has revealed that he is considering the possibility of bringing back the series once again after its final season. However, its main stars do not agree with the idea.
If other actors are thrilled to come back to the show they have been into for years, Boreanaz (FBI Agent Seeley Booth) has a different take when it comes to reboots. “Everything is possible in life, but I tend to like to go forward. In general, I don’t like reunions, and I don’t like to go backwards. It’s hard for me to answer that question,” the actor said.
As for Boreanaz on-screen partner Emily Deschanel (Dr. Temperance Brennan), the actress admitted that she would need more time before she would consider playing the brilliant forensic anthropologist role again, Entertainment Weekly reported.
In January 2012, Fox aired a Bones’ spin-off, titled The Finder. However, it only lasted for one season with 13 episodes and was cancelled the same year.
Why Bones Stars Not Interested of Reboot
It can be recalled that the end of Bones has been a controversial one. Executive producer Kathleen Reichs, Deschanel, and Boreanaz filed a lawsuit against Fox.
The group claimed they have been cheated out of contractually-owed profits for years, CinemaBlend noted. The complaint stated the company owed millions of dollars to the stars. Apparently, Deschanel and Boreanaz are supposed to earn a 3% share of the series’ revenue, while Reichs has to receive 5%.
Meanwhile, Hanson also revealed at TCA panel that it was their call to end the hit crime procedural drama. “It wasn’t our decision. We were told it was our last year. It wasn’t that we called the network and said, ‘We’d like to finish now.’ I’m not sure anybody is terribly upset or terribly shocked that it would be the last year,” he said.
Bones season 12, titled The Final Chapter, airs every Thursday at 9:00 p.m. ET in Fox.
