The Crown Season 2, set to premiere late 2017, will be less focusing on the Queen.
According to The Crown Season 2 creator, Peter Morgan, the series will be dwelling more on Her Majesty’s husband and son.
Queen Elizabeth’s husband Prince Philip, as well as her son Prince Charles, will be the focus of the Netflix hit series.
The Crown Season 2 Goes to South Africa
The Crown season 2 filming has now been going on. Recently, the team went to South Africa to film Prince Philip’s Commonwealth tour. This was the time when he had to be separated with Queen Elizabeth and their children for months.
Executive producer Suzanne Mackie told People that the season “glance backward to Philip’s childhood and his upbringing.”
She noted how this might have affected him as a man, as a father to the royal family, and as his role as Prince Consort.
Prince Charles’ was also highlighted in the upcoming The Crown Season 2.
Peter Morgan told, “We start to focus on Charles as a young boy and his education, and on Philip and his back story.”
The Crown Welcomes New Cast Member
As Queen Elizabeth ages comes the fact that cast members have to bid goodbye to their young roles, the aforementioned source said.
Peter Morgan confirmed that they will be replaced by older actors to suit the timeline of The Crown.
“It’s goodbye to a different, Edwardian, post-Imperial world,” he said.
“We get a classlessness and a modernity beginning to creep in. It is going to be terrific.”
Vanity Fair reports, The Crown Season 2 creator also hinted that Princess Diana. She will be shown “heavily” at the end of season 3 and will be explored in the next two seasons.
