Constantine is back on The CW! The favorite DC Comics drama will be making a comeback as an animated series on CW Seed. The announcement of the beloved character’s return was made at the Television Critics Association’s press tour.
Reports said that the animated show will be having a five or six episodes, each will be aired for 10-minutes. It will now join Vixen and Justice League, another DC Comics series.
He is back on CW Seed
The series is set to premiere during the 2017-2018 TV season. CW Seed has also made available the 13 episodes of the live-action drama. It is also included in the long list of The CW shows which has made crossovers with Arrow. It includes The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow.
According to TV By the Numbers, Matt Ryan has been confirmed to voice the character. It can be recalled that after NBC cancelled it in 2011, Ryan reprised the role in one episode of Arrow.
TV Series Finale noted that despite gaining dedicated fans for the live-action drama, due to low rating, the bosses had no choice but to cancel it. Aside from The CW’s announcement of Constantine‘s comeback, the network also renewed seven other series.
Will There Be Another Constantine and Arrow Crossover?
The CW president Mark Pedowitz cleared that there are no plans of doing a crossover. However, he underscored that having Ryan again as the voice for the lead character is something he looks forward to, The Hollywood Reporter said. He also noted that the actor’s appearance in the previous November 2015 Arrow episode “added dimension” to the story.
Aside from being back as the voice for the demon hunter, Ryan is also included in the cast of animated movie Justice League Dark as the character himself. It is set to be shown on January 24 for its digital release.
The animated series is based on the DC character in 1985 which follows the story of John Constantine. While dealing with his faith and his past, he is faced with a challenge to protect humanity from dark forces.
