It seems Marvel found its two main characters for their Cloak and Dagger series. Recent reports suggest that the show’s titular characters have been cast.
If the latest information proves to be right, then Noah Gray-Cabey and Debby Ryan will bring Cloak and Dagger to life. Cabey is commonly known for playing Micah Sanders in Heroes. Meanwhile, Ryan’s acting credits include appearances in Disney Channel shows like Wizards of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana.
Casting news for the duo hails from MCU Exchange. The site clarifies that at this point, this information is nothing but a rumor. However, the source did their research on the matter and eventually found some interesting activity that may support their source’s claim.
Namely, the activity in question points to Cloak and Dagger showrunner Joe Pokaski, Cabey and Ryan’s social media activities. The source details that Pokaski recently followed the young actor on Twitter. Meanwhile, Ryan recently followed the Cloak and Dagger official Twitter page.
Hence, despite MCU Exchange’s reiteration that the information is just a rumor for now, they are also not neglecting the possibility that an official confirmation may drop in a few weeks. As per the site, Cabey and Ryan are the right ages for the characters.
More information on the Cloak and Dagger series
News about a potential Cloak and Dagger TV series emerged back in 2011. Back then, no further details existed other than the fact that it’s in development.
Last year, the concept finally landed a straight-to-series order from Freeform. An exclusive report from Variety on the order’s announcement described the series as a “live-action interracial romance” following the duo.
Based on the comic book series of the same name, Cloak and Dagger serves as the alternate personas of Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen. The source material introduces the characters as runaways who become friends after Johnson saves Bowen from a thief.
Johnson and Bowen later acquire their abilities after injections from criminal chemist Simon Marshall. There are no details yet on how much content from the comics the series will take inspiration from. The series eyes a 2018 release date.
