Several people have sworn to stand in solidarity with America’s Muslim population and one of them is Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik. She portrays the role of Amy Farrah Fowler in the hit CBS sitcom.
According to BBC, Bialik is an open Trump critic. Recently, reports suggested that there is a possibility for President Donald Trump to create an Islamic database. If this happens, the 41-year-old actress plans to register as a Muslim.
“I am Jewish. I stand ready to register as a Muslim in #solidarity if it comes to that,” Bialik said. She adds, “If we are registering people who you think are a threat, register white males too, since most serial killers & mass shooters are white males.”
Big Bang Theory Actress Inspired by Madeleine Albright
Before Mayim Bialik spoke of joining the Muslim registry, first female secretary of state Madeleine Albright also made her statement. The 79-year-old politician said on Twitter last Wednesday:
“I was raised Catholic, became Episcopalian & found out later my family was Jewish. I stand ready to register as Muslim in #solidarity.”
However, registration of American Muslims did not gain much buzz or mentions in the past few months. The earlier source revealed that it was something Trump promised last 2015 in an interview.
Aside from the registry, it can be remembered that President Trump issued a ban for foreign Muslims in entering the US. In line with this, he also suggests that Muslims should register upon entering the country, Daily Mail reported.
Refugees Not Allowed?
In addition, it seems like President Trump is considering a four-month freeze to all refugees and halt visa. This includes Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
He reasoned that people from Muslim majority countries are “terror prone.” Meanwhile, his decision about this new executive order for immigrants will probably be announced later this week.
Furthermore, fans of The Big Bang Theory will soon find out what Mayim Bialik’s next step once this issue progresses. Stay tuned for updates on this story.
