The Big Bang Theory season 10 cast has Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper and if fans are asked, they can certainly not imagine a show without him. The 43-year-old actor has been with the series since its first day.
But according to Comic Book, if one of his other auditions went well, he could have dropped the CBS show. Parsons recently shared details about his failed audition for another sitcom. He could have played Barney in the prominent series How I Met Your Mother instead of the obsessive compulsive genius in TBBT.
Parsons made an appearance on the Late Late Show with James Corden. During the said interview, the actor answered some questions at a backstage video. While he reacted to some fan theories, one question highlighted if he was supposed to be Barney from a different dimension.
Unexpectedly, he revealed the details of his failed audition from years ago. The actor said:
“The funny thing about this is I auditioned to play Barney and felt I was very wrong for it and almost ran screaming from the room after I auditioned. Like, ‘Well I did that and I do not know why.’ They actually made me come back in as if they were interested. Not interested enough because the right person got that part, Neil Patrick Harris.”
He further explained that it is fascinating how he has “a loose-ish” connection to the part. Despite the fans’ theories, he gave a hint that maybe none of those are true at all. Parsons shared that maybe underneath his character is a real womanizer.
The Big Bang Theory Season 10 Cast with Jim Parsons Is Destined
In the end, Parsons’ decision to be with the cast worked in his favor. Aside from a forthcoming spin-off, the actor earned plenty of awards for his portrayal as Sheldon.
The upcoming spin-off tackles his role’s younger years. Not only are the fans gushing over the series, but Parsons is as well.
Moreover, he explained that it will be different from the original series in a good way. Parsons believe that there are lots of things that can be explored regarding the series’ origin. He also believes that the creative team can still do many things after the successful TBBT episodes over the years.
The Big Bang Theory season 10 cast definitely did a good job in drawing fans into the series. As for the show’s latest path, Huffington Post reports that it remains a mystery if Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) is really a cyborg created by Howard (Simon Helberg).
