Carpool Karaoke gave viewers many memorable moments and they all come together in one epic mashup.
Highlights of Carpool Karaoke from James Corden’s Late Late Show went online last December. However, the fun of watching it remains timeless. Indeed, the host and comedian struck gold with the idea to take celebrities on a car ride and sing with them.
Yet how did James Corden come up with the idea? As it turns out, viewers can thank George Michael for it. One fateful day in 2011, both stars came together and the rest is history.
George Michael Inspired Carpool Karaoke
As a tribute to the late singer, Corden revealed details of how Michael was technically his first passenger on a carpool karaoke ride.
“It was the weirdest feeling going to bed thinking, when I wake up, it’s going to be because George Michael is on the phone and I’m going to talk to him about this sketch. We chatted for an hour, and we chatted about music, and I felt very privileged to be able to tell him how much his music meant to me,” Corden said.
According to TV Line, George Michael was also instrumental in getting Mariah Carey to take part as the first official carpool karaoke partner on The Late Late Show. From then on, there was no stopping James Corden. The host welcomed a string of A-list celebrities as his partner.
Elizabeth Bacharach of Cosmopolitan credits YouTuber AnDyWuMUSICLAND for a mashup of carpool karaoke best moments from 2015 and 2016. From rock to pop to R&B, James Corden even welcomed First Lady Michelle Obama to the front seat. Indeed, FLOTUS jamming to a Beyoncé hit is priceless.
Directioners might even get sentimental seeing the boys together again. While Jelena fans would likely notice how the well-crafted video put Justin Bieber right after Selena Gomez. No doubt, carpool karaoke Madonna would be the only passenger to break convention with a leg lift. More so, facing backward to show off her tight rear.
