Bates Motel Season 5 trailer has been released and it already hints a darker, more sinister final chapter of A&E network’s psychological thriller series. As of writing, the said teaser already gained a lot of reactions from fans and TV buffs.

Bates Motel Season 5 Trailer

When Bates Motel released its first trailer last Jan. 9 for the show’s last and final season, the scenes included in the footage clearly suggest what the fifth season will be all about. Aside from giving us some clips in Bates’ residential house, the teaser also showed a shocking ending.

At first, the trailer, entitled Check-In on Norman Bates, seemed to be just like a tour inside the Bates’ house. However, deep within the teaser’s video clips and lovely old music background is Norman’s darker and more sinister mind.

In A&E’s official released description for the trailer, the network says: “Norman is a good boy and knows how to keep his mother cool.” Though the words seemed to give a positive preview, the end of the trailer showed how Norman (Freddie Highmore) literally kept his beloved mother “cool” — Norma (Vera Farmiga) is frozen and dressed like a queen in a dark room.

“I’ll be back soon” – Norman.

Cast on Season 5 Spoilers

In IGN’s interview, when asked about Norma’s presence and what to expect from the character in season 5, Farmiga said:

“Norma has been a lot of things but you know, the one thing she is not is unforgettable. I think she’s going to be there in a very large capacity. I have no idea.”

In the same interview, Carlton Cuse revealed that even though Norma is physically dead, she will still be there. “She may not be alive but that does not diminish her presence,” he said.

Cuse also noted the scheme for season 5. He revealed that it is always their plan to show their own version of Norman “in his full-blown pathology” in the last chapter of the series.

“At this point, his personality is very split.. We’ll be seeing a lot of this point of view of Norman’s mother,” the EP said.

On the other hand, in A&E’s interview footage with Highmore, the actor revealed that he will be directing the eighth episode of the last season. Adding on, he will also be writing the seventh episode of the series.

Bates Motel Season 5 episode 1 premieres on Feb. 20.
