Bates Motel Season 5, the last installment of A&E’s psychological thriller, announces its early return. The series is set to have its premiere on Feb. 20 and its executive producer reveal bits of spoilers for the fans.
What We Know So Far
The Season 5 Begins with…
In earlier reports, the showrunners Kerry Ehrin and Carlton Cuse never confirmed if there will be any time jump in the last season. What is known so far is that the series will have its moments where it crosses its path to David Hitchcock’s Psycho film. These moments include Marion Crane’s famous shower scene.
New Faces and Returnees
In Yahoo News report, fans will get to see new characters as well as the comeback of our beloved cast. Farmiga will still be much alive in the series (At least in Norman’s mind), Freddie Highmore will not only be an actor this season but also a director of the series.
Adding on, Dylan Massett (Max Thieriot), Emma Decody (Olivia Cooke), Caleb Calhoun (Kenny Johnson), Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) and Chick Hogan (Ryan Hurst) are the other old cast who are set to return in Bates Motel Season 5
Meanwhile, for the new characters, the Bates Motel blog reported that last year, it was announced that Lila Crane and Sam Loomis will have their respective appearances in the show. In addition to the new cast, Isabelle McNally and Brooke Smith are both tapped and will play the characters of Madeleine Loomis and Sheriff Jane Greene.
Kerry Ehrin on Season 5
Showrunner Kerry Ehrin reveals some clues and significant information for the series’s last chapter. She hints why the series is so relatable for the viewers and what will happen to the three major characters in the show.
First of the list are Dylan and Emma. This couple “really did try to do the healthy thing and detach,” says Ehrin. The EP admitted that one of the things that make the series so engaging is because the “family element” is so much involved.
“The family element is very real and grounded.”
For Ehrin, she reveals that it will be very hard for someone who came from a dysfunctional family to just forget things. This arc will be for Dylan, the season will be more about “dealing with things he finds out and being pulled back in.”
When asked about Sheriff Romero, Ehrin has one thing to say. If last season, we saw how this tough guy broke down with Norma’s death, now “he’s going to have a very extreme reaction to this, and what he feels he needs to do about it.”
Bates Motel Season 5 will air on Feb. 20 and will end on April 24, 2017.
