Barry Allen will face a totally different main villain in The Flash season 4.
Barry/The Flash (Grant Gustin) had fought speedsters in the previous two seasons and even in the current season. But in the upcoming fourth installment of the superhero TV series, the Scarlet Speedster will be facing not a zooming villain but a sorcerer.
During the PaletFest panel, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed that The Flash season 4 will not be having a speedster as the main bad guy. The announcement received a loud applause and cheer from the audience, The Hollywood Reporter noted.
The Flash season 1 had the Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh/Matt Letscher), while season 2 had Zoom (Teddy Sears). The show currently has the God of Speed Savitar (Andre Tricoteux).
Kreisberg confirmed that The Flash season 4 will be having Abra Kadabra. He told the crowd in PaleyFest:
“We have Abra Kadabra coming up in an episode, played by David Dastmalchian. He’s a long time comic book villain of the Flash, and we finally got him onto the show, and we’re really excited about that. There’s a lot of fun stuff coming up, and a lot of comic book nods, but we tend not to specifically adapt a specific comic book, or specific comic book storyline.”
Abra Kadabra is a powerful sorcerer uses his spells to achieve virtually anything he wants. The villain is described as a criminal from a distant future whose advanced technological abilities seem like magic.
According to DC Comics website, Abra Kadabra will be making his debut in The Flash later this season. Dastmalchian previously appeared as Jerome’s (Cameron Monaghan) assistant Dwight Pollard in another DC TV series, Gotham.
The Flash-Supergirl Musical Crossover
The much-awaited crossover airs this week. It will kick off in Supergirl on Monday (March 20) at 8 p.m. and continues in The Flash on Tuesday (March 21) at 8 p.m. Both shows air in The CW.
In this crossover, Gustin and Melissa Benoist (Supergirl/Kara Danvers) will be reunited with fellow Glee star Darren Criss. The Glee alum will be portraying the villain Music Meister, who will send The Flash and Supergirl to the world where life is a musical.
The only way the two could escape the alternate world is to follow Music Meister’s script and to sing and dance till the end. Unfortunately, they also don’t have their powers in the musical world.
Meanwhile, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend co-creator and star Rachel Bloom penned the original song for the Flash-Supergirl musical crossover. The song Superfriends will be a duet between Kara and Barry.
Another song for the crossover was written by La La Land writers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The song Running to Find You will be performed by Gustin.
