The Bachelorette 2016 Australia runner-up Matty Johnson will return as the leading man for the forthcoming The Bachelor 2017 Australia.
Channel 10 has confirmed that Matty has been given a second chance to find love on national TV. But this time around, he is the star of the reality show.
The 30-year-old marketing director finished second in the previous season of The Bachelorette after journalist Georgia Love chose Lee Elliott over him. Matty admitted that it was not the ending he wanted.
But now, he is ready to start a new journey in life. On Instagram, he wrote:
“I can finally announce that yes, I will be the next Bachelor. I never could have imagined I’d be given this opportunity. I’m beyond excited to start this incredible adventure and to find the special girl I’ve been waiting for.”
The Daily Telegraph, meanwhile, cited another statement from Matty saying:
“I’m so excited about the prospect of settling down. Timing is such a crucial factor when it comes to making this commitment and I know wholeheartedly, that there’s nothing I want more.”
Johnson’s paycheck for appearing in the show reportedly amounts to $200,000. The production for The Bachelor 2017 Australia already kicked off in Sydney.
