The latest buzz in the gaming world suggests that an Assassin’s Creed TV series could come to fruition soon. With Netflix being one of today’s more popular platforms, will the potential series find its home in the streaming service?

IGN reports that news of Ubisoft’s plan to create a TV series based on the game stemmed from a Reddit AMA by Assassin’s Creed head of content Aymar Azaizia. Since the potential project appears to be just a plan for now, Azaizia did not delve into details.

Nevertheless, he did share some insights about the possible TV adaptation. IGN quotes the exec as saying:

“It’s like the movie guys, we will take our time to get sure we deliver something we can be proud of.”

The Assassin’s Creed movie released last year which starred Michael Fassbender as Callum. Despite the hype that surrounded it, the film received negative reviews from critics. Nevertheless, the film earned a modest success at the box office after grossing $240 million worldwide against its $125 million budget.

Other names involved with the film include Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons and Michael K. Williams, among others. The Blu-ray and DVD output for the film recently came out last March 21.

Will the Assassin’s Creed TV Series be on Netflix?

IGN highlighted in its article that they asked Ubisoft for comment on the potential series. However, as of this writing, the company hasn’t responded to the outlet yet.

Nevertheless, it would appear that the TV series is a concrete plan. At an early stage, the planned project could find its home anywhere. However, Netflix emerges as the front runner after a Reuters report mentioned the platform alongside a story about Ubisoft.

Last year, another report from IGN detailed that Ubisoft is in talks with the streaming service for a TV series. Back then there was no clues as to what the series could be. With this news in current light, it is looking more like the talks was for an adaptation of Assassin’s Creed.

Status of the Assassin’s Creed Franchise

Despite the plans for other media related to the franchise, the Assassin’s Creed game franchise itself is currently on hiatus. Den of Geek offers the following:

“Rumors suggest that Ubisoft may announce something regarding the franchise’s return at E3 and that the next installment in the series will be based in Egypt.”
