Arrow season 5 has introduced a new Black Canary. Hence, fans are wondering if there will be a Dinah-Oliver romance this season.
Some fans believe that the Green Arrow and the Black Canary will be together in the end. The speculation emerged since in the comic version of Arrow, Oliver Queen married Dinah Laurel Lance, the character portrayed by Katie Cassidy on the CW hit superhero series.
Viewers will recall that Laurel was killed by Damien Darhk in season 4. Cassidy came back recently in Star City but as the villain Black Siren from Earth-Two.
Now, Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy) was introduced. Dinah is known in the comics as the first Black Canary, Entertainment Weekly noted.
In the previous episode, Oliver (Stephen Amell) appointed Dinah as an SCPD officer, while Det. Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) gave Dinah his blessing to assume the Black Canary identity. Amell told EW:
“The idea that Oliver would end up with the Black Canary being Katie Cassidy or any new iteration thereof? To me, it could happen, it could not, but it’s certainly not destined to happen or predesigned to happen.”
The actor explained that if the show didn’t depart from the comic version, viewers would have not seen some of the show’s beloved characters. Amell said:
“We’ve always consistently had the creative team behind DC as a partner, and they sign off on stuff for us and they give us chances with characters like Barry Allen, who was introduced through our show before he went on to head his own show, and they do that because they have faith in us. If they thought that we were destroying their comics’ mythos, I’m pretty sure they would have said something by now.”
If there will be no Oliver-Dinah romance, Amell teased that there could still be a future for Olicity. The actor hinted that Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) will trust Oliver once again.
Arrow Season 5 Episode 15 Spoilers
Oliver is in the verge of losing his post as mayor of Star City after a petition is filed for his impeachment. Mayor Queen’s life is also in danger in episode 15, titled Fighting Fire with Fire.
In the previous episode, Oliver ordered Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra) to hide the Green Arrow’s involvement on the death of Detective Billy Malone (Tyler Ritter). The cover-up was later leaked to the media.
This week, a vigilante is out to kill the mayor because he thought Oliver is a corrupt official. In a sneak peek for the next episode, the vigilante is seen pointing a high-powered gun to a car in which Oliver is likely driving. Diggle (David Ramsey) will lead the team on a mission to stop the vigilante once and for all.
