Colton Haynes is not coming back in Arrow season 5 anytime soon, but he has other good news for his fans – he is now engaged!
The actor shared on social media his stunning engagement with Jeff Leatham in Mexico. In one photo, Haynes and Leatham were seen kissing as fireworks go off in the background. The actor simply captioned the photo, “I SAID YES!!!”
Apparently, Leatham popped the question during their romantic vacation in the Las Ventanas al Paraiso resort in Cabo, Mexico. He had the place decorated with dozens of candles inside glasses, which were placed strategically over walkways and the sand. Leatham also placed some couches and a TV set up for a cozy post-engagement date.
Leatham is a celebrity florist. He is also the artistic director of the floral/design studio at the Four Seasons Hotel at the Beverly Hills.
According to Haynes’ rep, after the actor said yes, the special event continued with a fireworks display set to Bruno Mars’ song Marry You as the couple danced in tears. Meanwhile, the Arrow star also posted a picture of a giant screen showing Cher speaking in a videotaped message. He wrote:
“Thank you @cher for the beautiful ‘I got you babe’ proposal lead in, you sounded incredible as always 🙂 The most special night of my life @jeffleatham. #flowers #fireworks #fullmoon #cher.”
Haynes’ best friend actress Ally Maki also shared a screenshot of the actor’s engagement ring. She congratulated both for their engagement and thanked Leatham for showing Haynes true love and changing his life.
Colton Haynes Coming Out Moment
Haynes came out publicly as gay last year and made his relationship with Leatham official on Valentine’s Day.
In a May 2016 interview with Entertainment Weekly, he admitted that he is gay after years of public speculation about his sexuality. The actor also revealed that he had struggled with mental health issues before his coming out.
Haynes spoke up about the importance of seeking help if experiencing mental health issues. He shared last year with Paper magazine an excerpt from his diary entry in November 2014. He wrote:
“I’m so closed off to the world that I can’t even get up enough courage to go in public …To the public eye, my possibilities are endless, but in my mind, I’m fading away and battling to hide the pain and emotion that has plagued me my entire life.”
