American Crime story season 2 focuses on hurricane Katrina and the series’ creativity could not get any better tapping Annette Bening to star in the series. The Oscar nominated actress will be helming Katrina: American Crime Story.
According to Variety, people who will still be behind the camera in the upcoming installment are Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson. Of course, working on his never ending magic again in calling out the best stars is Ryan Murphy.
American Crime Story Season 2 Details
TV Line reported that Bening will play the role of Kathleen Blanco. She is a Governor of Louisiana who led the state during and after the devastating storm in 2005.
Aside from Bening, no other cast members have been confirmed yet. Despite this, Murphy hints the comeback of Sarah Paulson to the series. After all, she has been a frequent collaborator of the 51-year-old male screenwriter.
Meanwhile, Brad Simpson adds, “You will have the famous people and also the people who were not famous.” There is definitely a bunch of things to expect in the upcoming season.
However, after all these updates, season 2 will not be aired until 2018. This is what FX Network CEO John Landgraf revealed during the Television Critics Association. His announcement stated:
“It is just taking time, frankly, to get material we are happy with. And weather when you are shooting in New Orleans, you have to worry about hurricanes… You can only shoot there during certain times of the year.”
Talking about Bening, she was recently nominated for Golden Globe Awards. It was for her role in John Mills’ film 20th Century Women. Her other prominent films are American Beauty, Bugsy, The Kids Are Alright and The Grifters.
In addition, she also earned guest appearances on TV such as Miami Vice and Wise Guy. This is not the first time that she will be working with Ryan Murphy. He has been Bening’s director during the film Running with Scissors in 2006.
American Crime Story Season 3 and 4 Revealed
There are plenty of expectations for the following seasons since the premiere installment received positive feedback. It can be remembered that American Crime Story: O.J. Simpson trial won nine Emmy Awards and two in Golden Globes.
Moreover, the latter source reported that season 3 will tackle the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace. It focuses on the murder case’s serial killer Andrew Cunnan. On the other hand, season 4 will revolve around the story of Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinski scandal.
