American Horror Story season 7 will take inspiration from the 2016 US presidential elections. More importantly, it might feature a Donald Trump character.

Producer Ryan Murphy confirmed that the seventh season of the FX anthology series will tackle the recent elections wherein Donald Trump won over Hillary Clinton. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Murphy said:

“I think that will be interesting for a lot of people.”

Murphy appeared on the show to promote his new FX anthology series, Feud. When asked whether there will be a character based on Trump, Murphy simply replied “maybe.” The producer earlier teased that season 7 will have a modern day setting.

It is rare for the AHS showrunner to share more detailed information about the upcoming season of the series. In season 6, the hit anthology series released over 20 teasers of different themes to keep fans guessing.

Murphy earlier teased an AHS crossover from two of the series’ past seasons. The show also shared a clue on what the season 7 theme could be during the finale of AHS: Roanoke.

Discussion about a long-rumored “cruise ship” plotline intensified when AHS‘ social media shared a clip featuring the sea. The video has a striking resemblance to the opening credits of the 1960s soap titled Dark Shadow. The caption for the clip said, “The Monsters are All Gone.”

Earlier this year, AHS received renewal for two more seasons. Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will return for the future seasons. Murphy said that filming for the still-untitled American Horror Story season 7 will begin in June.

Trump-Inspired TV Series Episodes

AHS is not the only television series that will feature a story ripped from the presidential elections. ABC’s Black-ish tackled the results of the election in episode 12 of its current season. ABC’s Scandal also featured a Trump-like presidential candidate.

The producers of The Good Wife spin-off also admitted that they made major changes in the show after Trump won the election back in November. Season 1 of The Good Fight will premiere on Sunday. Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) will watch Trump’s inauguration in episode 1.

Meanwhile, Law and Order SVU season 18 was supposed to air an episode about a businessman-turned-politician loosely inspired by Trump. The episode was delayed twice and has yet to air as of date.
