The Affair has been renewed for a fourth season. The news was made public just a few weeks ahead of the show’s Season 3 finale.
Yes, The Affair continues to live on for another season. The good news was shared by David Nevins, the CEO and network president who announced it at the TCA winter press tour.
Show Gets Green Signal for Season 4
The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that the green signal for Season 4 comes in just weeks before the finale of its Season 3, which will be aired on January 29. The show is well-known for its unique she-said, he-said narrative. It stars Dominic West, Ruth Wilson, Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson in some of the key roles.
The drama managed to create a niche for itself in its very first season by impressing the critics, as well as, the masses. It bagged the statue for the Best Drama at the Golden Globe in Season 1 itself. Variety reported that the show created a splash after bagging two Golden Globes in its debut season.
However, in recent times, Sara Treem’s series has been at the receiving end of criticisms from some quarters and has not been a frontrunner in the award ceremonies. Even its viewership has seen a steep reduction.
Season 3 resumed after three years of Noah (Dominic West) admitting his crime during the murder trial, much to the shock of many. Noah tried to make a fresh start with his life. But the damage caused due to his actions in the past took a toll on him.
Meanwhile, Alison (Ruth Wilson) has been bringing up her daughter Joanie all these times in Montauk along with Luisa (Catalina Sandino Moreno) and Cole (Joshua Jackson). However, her past continues to haunt her. On the other hand, Luisa and Cole try to work towards a secure future.
The show joins series like Homeland, Ray Donovan, Billions, as well as, other new entries like Twin Peaks and I’m Dying Up Here on Showtime’s schedule.
Sarah Treem and Jeffrey Reiner are the executive producers of The Affair.
