The 89th Academy Awards, or simply known as the 2017 Oscars, is about to happen on Feb. 26, 2017 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. While the public still needs to wait for months, the award-giving body already launched it hilarious first awards commercial.
Oscars’ official YouTube account released the 16-second clip during on Christmas day. The video gathered more than 37k views as of writing.
The event will be hosted by no other than Jimmy Kimmel. He is a widely popular host who is also known for his wit in the show, Jimmy Kimmel Live. Watch the short but funny 2017 Oscars commercial here.
The TV show host was the masters of ceremonies in the recent Emmys as well. He said in a statement that he is honored to be part of the annual awards ceremony.
“The Oscars are in great hands with Jimmy,” said Academy CEO Dawn Hudson (via Oscars.org). “He is razor sharp, funny, and unpredictable, and has proven himself a master of live event television, which is perfect for our audience around the world.”
ABC will be presenting the 2017 Oscars around 5:30 p.m. PST (8:30 p.m. EST). Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd are the producers of the much-awaited show.
Most likely, the public is also expecting some of the most popular and successful films to receive nominations. So far, Awards Circuit provided a list of possible nominees for the Best Actor title, and they are:
