The Defenders release date could come to light soon as the upcoming Marvel team-up on Netflix just wrapped filming. The end in production follows the recent debut of Iron Fist‘s series in the streaming service.
Although no official announcement came about the end of production from both Marvel and Netflix, Screen Rant gathers the milestone from the social media posts of people involved in the project.
The source cites actress Elodie Yung and makeup artist Sarit Klein’s Instagram posts. Klein captioned a short clip with other makeup artists with the phrase “Defenders wrap party” while Yung used the hashtag #defenderswrapparty.
With production starting last October, Screen Rant gives an estimate that the project took more or less five months to film. SR further analyzes that the production is approximately similar to other Marvel Netflix productions. However, this one only has eight episodes compared to the other series which at the most had 13.
Due to this, Screen Rant deduces that there are “some bigger things at play” with The Defenders. Furthermore, now that the production wrapped, SR thinks it won’t be long before a series trailer emerges.
Possible The Defenders Release Date
There is no release date yet for The Defenders. However, a report from Entertainment Weekly earlier in March noted that the series dedicated for the superhero team-up comes out in summer 2017. This narrows down the date between June and August.
However, a June or July release date seems more likely if based on Iron Fist‘s release date and the upcoming Punisher series. Iron Fist recently dropped last March 2017. Meanwhile, The Punisher series eyes a release at the end of the year. A middle point between the two would seem a logical time frame for the roll out of The Defenders.
While fans wait for an exact release date, they don’t need to wait that long to know how the four Defenders meet. EW shared this bit:
“…they’re making quite a mess. Each Defender has arrived separately at the offices of Midland Circle (a name that should sound familiar to Daredevil fans as the shady operation behind a giant, literal plot hole in season 2), and none of them expected to cross paths. But before they can properly meet and greet, the four have wound up trapped in the middle of a corridor and must brawl their way past a group of enemies.”
